Until the 1938 November Pogrom, Jewish life had a long tradition in the villages south of Bamberg: From west to south-east Aschbach, Burghaslach, Vestenbergsgreuth, Schornweisach, Uehlfeld, Weisendorf and Kairlindach and north of them Adelsdorf with its large cemetery in Zeckern as well as Muehlhausen, Reichmannsdorf, Burgebrach, Walsdorf, Lisberg and Trabelsdorf. Jewish communities and synagogues existed in all these municipalities. There were even also several other places of Jewish life.
